Antoinette van der Merwe was born on 7 October 1969. She spent her childhood years in Rustenburg and matriculated from Bergsig High School with Art as a subject.
Her love to paint was encouraged when she moved to Hartbeespoort Dam several years ago. She enrolled as a student with Pieter Millard, a wellknwon artist, who studied under the late Adriaan Boshoff.
Her work is inspired by Monet, Renoir and by South African inpressionists Hugo naude, Gregoire Boonzaaier and Adriaan Boshoff. She mainly paints in oils and loves to depict landscapes, seascapes, figures and still life. She uses both brush and palette knife.
As a relative newcomer, her work is already popular amongst investors and dealers.
